Another basic engine from Doncaster, Sammie is again a small, simple locomotive using much of the technology used with Millie. It has the same sized cylinders (with slide valves) as the mainstream Roundhouse engines, and they are controlled by an effective slip eccentric valve gear. Like the mainstream locomotives, the boiler is internally fired by gas and is generously sized, its bulk being well disguised in the saddle tank. Like Millie there is an optional top up system and water gauge glass. The cab houses the gas regulator, steam regulator and displacement lubricator. Styling is typical of a small US made saddle tank such as that of Porter or Baldwin. Sammie has a tough paint finish, the main body being a pleasing matt/satin black, the cab roof is red oxide and the smokebox and chimney being silver grey.
Being outside wheeled, the gauge, either 32mm or 45mm has to be specified when ordering
