The Easy Air system is a simple way of controlling points and signals. It utilises air pressure to give superbly reliable operation under even the most adverse of conditions. The system is suitable on layouts from N scale through to G, both indoor and outdoor. A great advantage of the system is it's ease of operation and installation. For garden operation, it is truly weatherproof and safe, the cylinders (more substantial than Del-Aire) being manufactured from brass and rust proof stainless steel. No electrics are needed!

In it's simplest form, air is fed into the air switch, which when operated, sends air pressure to the spring loaded cylinder. When the air switch is returned to it's original position, the air in the cylinder is exhausted at the switch. Signals and points can be interlocked by cascading the air supplies from each other. Speed of operation can be controlled using the Easy Air throttle valves to either prototypically slow the point blades or to allow a slow raising of a signal with a fast descent. With this flexibility, the possible applications for the Easy Air system seem endless.


Air is required at nominally 2.8 bar (40 psi) and can be supplied from a compressor, can of propellant, car spare wheel or even a garden sprayer. If air is available at a higher pressure, then a pressure reducing regulator should be used. Many pipe fittings from joiners, T pieces, headers, and adapters are included in the range. Building and extending the installation is therefore easy and enjoyable.

Particularly for the smaller scales, the air cylinders may be mounted underneath the baseboard and cylinders with vertical operating rods are available.

The system can also be configured to permit main panel or local panel control, allowing one man control or to have local manned `signal boxes'.
The Easy Air system is available as sets of parts, or as individual components for maximum flexibility in designing and building for your layout.

KIT PACKAGES Sets of components for complete installations (excluding air supply). Can be readily extended by adding further components, the sets also give a saving on buying individual components. Available as 2, or 4 cylinder sets in differing cylinder configurations. Cylinders are in brass finish. Appropriate instructions are included.

Two cylinder kits contain 2 cylinders, brackets and appropriate end fittings, 2 air switches, 50ft tubing, tee fitting and 1/8”NPT male to 1/16” barb fitting.

Four cylinder kits contain 4 cylinders, brackets and appropriate end fittings, 4 air switches, 100ft tubing, 6 station manifold and a barbed plug.

CYLINDERS They are single acting and internally sprung. At the ‘work end’ the cylinder is threaded 4-40 to which the appropriate supplied linkage screws. If you wish to use radio control type linkage from a model shop, this often fits. The cylinders give a throw of 1/2” to 5/8” depending upon how much the linkage sleeve is screwed onto the rod.

TUBING – The tubing used with Easy Air is 1/16” bore, 1/8” outside diameter and will connect with the older Del-Aire fittings. The Easy Air fittings have barbed connectors and the tubing simply pushes over these. Tubing is durable polyurethane and Brandbright stock it in the brown colour. Black or white are available to special order.
